瀬戸内紀行2022　Setouchi Travelogue 2022

  明石海峡大橋を越えると、陸地との距離は離れ、島陰もあまり見えなくなってくる。 しばらくは、ひたすら海だけを眺める時間となる。 出発してから2時間ほど経った頃だろうか。前方にうっすらと小豆島が見えてきた。 小豆島は、瀬戸内海では淡路島に続き2番目に大きな島。日本全体で見ると、17番目に大きい島となる。 小豆島には島ながら、日本最大渓谷に数えられる寒霞渓がある三笠山のような大きな山があるので、遠くからもよく見える。 いよいよ、小豆島に到着するようだ。 After crossing the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, the distance from the land increases, and the shade of the island becomes less visible. For a while, it will be time to just look at the sea. It's been about two hours since we left. Shodoshima came into view faintly ahead. Shodoshima is the second largest island in the Seto Inland Sea after Awajishima. It is the 17th largest island in Japan. Although Shodoshima is an island, there are large mountains such as Mt. Mikasa, which has Kankakei, which is counted as the largest valley in Japan, so it can be seen from afar. It seems that we have finally arrived at Shodoshima.

  神戸から小豆島に向かうこの路線の最初のハイライトが、明石海峡大橋の下を通過することだろう。 神戸港を出てしばらくすると、遠方の明石海峡大橋が見えてくた。 以前、NHKでこの橋の建設プロジェクトのドキュメンタリーを見たことがある。 淡路島を訪れた時は、この橋をバスで渡ったが、その時の記憶も蘇ってくる。 この日の天気は変わりやすく、神戸は晴れていたが、船が進むにつれて、雲行きが怪しくなってきた。 フェリーの最上部にある展望スペースで、海風を受けながら、明石海峡大橋の下をくぐった。 The first highlight of this route from Kobe to Shodoshima will be passing under the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge. After a while after leaving Kobe Port, I could see the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge in the distance. I once saw a documentary on the construction project of this bridge on NHK. When I visited Awaji Island, I crossed this bridge by bus, and the memory of that time comes back to me. The weather that day was changeable, and it was sunny in Kobe, but as the ship progressed, it became cloudy. At the observatory at the top of the ferry, I passed under the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge while feeling the sea breeze.

  今回利用したのはジャンボフェリー社のフェリーだった。 長年運用されているフェリーのようで、昭和の時代のような雰囲気だった。 船内では、讃岐うどんを食べることができるコーナーもあった。 神戸から小豆島の坂出港までは、およそ３時間半の航路。 子供たちが退屈しないようにだろうか、UFOキャッチャーや将棋ゲームなどのゲーム機も置かれていた、 この旅は2022年6月だったが、その年の10月には新しい船がこの路線に登場したようだ。 もうこの船は利用されないのだろうか？ The ferry I used this time was Jumbo Ferry. It looks like a ferry that has been in operation for many years, and it has an atmosphere like the Showa era. There was also a section on the ship where you could eat Sanuki udon. It takes about three and a half hours from Kobe to Sakaide Port on Shodoshima. There were also game machines such as UFO catchers and shogi games so that the children would not get bored. The trip was in June 2022, but a new vessel appears to have appeared on the line in October of that year. Is this ship no longer in use?

フェリーに乗って、小豆島に向かい、神戸港を離れた。 埠頭が徐々に遠ざかっていく様子を眺め、ちょっとした感傷にひたる。これは船旅の醍醐味の一つだろう。 神戸港は、日本の五大港の一つ。 古くから天然の良港で、平清盛がこの地（福原）に都を置いたことが連想される。 幕末の安政条約で開港されて、その後多くの外国人が移り住み、現在まで続く異人街などが作られた。 そんなことを考えているうちに、フェリーは次第に港を離れていった。 I took a ferry to Shodoshima and left Kobe port. Watching the wharf slowly recede, I feel a little sentimental. This is one of the real pleasures of a cruise. Kobe Port is one of Japan's five major ports. It has been a good natural harbor since ancient times, and is associated with Taira no Kiyomori's capital (Fukuhara). After the port was opened by the Ansei Treaty at the end of the Tokugawa shogunate, many foreigners moved there, creating a foreigner town that continues to this day. While I was thinking about such things, the ferry gradually left the port.

  神戸オリエンタルホテルから、ぶらぶらと歩いて神戸三宮フェリーターミナルに到着した。 ここから、ジャンボフェリーに乗って、小豆島の坂出港へ向かう。 平日であるせいか、チケット売り場には人影はあまりなかった。 チケットを買い、イスに座って乗船時間を待っていると、四国の高松や、九州の宮崎行きのフェリーもこの港から出発することに気がついた。 このまま小豆島でなく、高松に向かったらどうだろうか、宮崎に向かったらどこを訪れようか。 待ち時間が結構あったので、色々と妄想してしまった。 港とは、人をそうした旅の妄想に掻き立てる場所なのかもしれない。 From the Kobe Oriental Hotel, I walked around and arrived at the Kobe Sannomiya Ferry Terminal. From here, take the jumbo ferry to Sakaide Port on Shodoshima. There weren't many people at the ticket office, probably because it was a weekday. After buying a ticket and sitting on a chair waiting for boarding, I noticed that ferries to Takamatsu in Shikoku and Miyazaki in Kyushu also depart from this port. What if I headed to Takamatsu instead of Shodoshima? Where would I go if I headed to Miyazaki? I had a lot of time to wait, so I fantasized about various things. A port may be a place that arouses people's fantasies of travel.

  翌日、ホテルをチェックアウトして、小豆島へ向かう。 神戸フェリーターミナルに向かう途中に、神戸海軍操練所跡の記念碑を見つけた。 それは、幕末期の元治元年（1864年）、勝海舟の提言によって作られた施設だった。 そこでは、土佐藩の坂本龍馬や陸奥宗光らが集い、勝海舟の元で西洋式の海軍技術を学んでいた。 しかし、幕府の施設に関わらず、倒幕派の人々が学んでいたことが問題視されて、翌年の慶應元年（1865年）には廃止されてしまった。 あまり気に留める人もいないひっそりとしたこの場所は、日本の近代が始まった場所の一つと言っていい。 The next day, I checked out of the hotel and headed to Shodoshima. On the way to the Kobe Ferry Terminal, I found a memorial to the site of the Kobe Naval Training Center. It was a facility built in 1864, at the end of the Edo period, at the suggestion of Kaishu Katsu. Ryoma Sakamoto and Munemitsu Mutsu of the Tosa clan gathered there and learned Western-style naval technology from Kaishu Katsu. However, it was abolished in the following year, 1865, because the fact that anti-shogunate people were studying regardless of the bakufu's facilities was a problem. It can be said that this quiet place, where no one pays much attention, is one of the places where modern Japan began.

  神戸での宿泊は、神戸オリエンタルホテルだった。 明治3年にオランダ人によって開業された由緒あるホテル。オーナーは変わったが、2010年にかつてあった同じ場所で再開された。 神戸港に近いので、上層階からは美しいハーバー・ビューが楽しめる。 朝食のバイキングもメニューが豊富で、味も申し分なく、いつかまた泊まってみたいホテルだ。 In Kobe, I stayed at the Kobe Oriental Hotel. A historic hotel opened in 1870 by a Dutchman. It has changed owners but reopened in 2010 at the same location it once was. Because it is close to Kobe Port, you can enjoy a beautiful harbor view from the upper floors. The breakfast buffet has a wide variety of menus, and the taste is perfect. I wanted to comeback to the hotel again in future.

  今回の旅の一番の目的は、瀬戸内海を巡ることだったが、もう一つの目的は神戸スタジアムでイニエスタのプレーを見ることだった。 ヴィッセル神戸は、このシーズンあまり調子が良くなく、J2への降格ラインギリギリだったので、もしかしたら来期はイニエスタのプレーを見ることができなくなるかもしれないと考えて、この試合のチケットを予約した。 試合は、ヴィッセル神戸対浦和レッズ。 アウェイとは言え、やはりレッズの応援は迫力があり、ホームのヴィッセルの応援を圧倒していた感もある。 チームの調子が悪いこともあってか、イニエスタのプレーもどこか精彩を欠いていて、後半途中で交代。 試合は、試合終了間際にレッズがゴールを決めて勝利。 残念な結果だったが、サッカー界の至宝とも言えるイニエスタのプレーを見ることができて良かった。 The main purpose of this trip was to tour the Seto Inland Sea, but another purpose was to see Iniesta's play at Kobe Stadium. Vissel Kobe hadn't been very good this season and were on the verge of relegation to J2, so they booked a ticket for this match, thinking that they might not be able to see Iniesta play next season. The game is Vissel Kobe vs Urawa Red Diamonds. Although it was an away match, the Reds' support was still powerful, and there was a feeling that they overwhelmed the support of Vissel at home. 神戸について、まずは知り合いの家を訪ねた。 久しぶりの訪問だったので、しばらく旧交を温めて、その後、兵庫県立美術館へ向かった。 そこでは、関西の80年代展という企画展が行われていて、それを見るのが目的だった。 1980年代の日本のアート界は関東より関西が主導していたとのことで、その時期に行われていた「アート・ナウ」というシリーズ展に出展された作品が紹介されていた。 参加していたアーティストの中では、森村泰昌くらいしか名前を知らなかったが、むしろ新鮮な感覚で80年代のアート作品を楽しむことができた。 About Kobe, I first visited an acquaintance's house. It was my first visit in a long time, so I reconnected with old friends for a while, and then headed to the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art. There was a special exhibition called Kansai 80's Exhibition, and my purpose was to see it. In the 1980s, the Kansai region led the Japanese art world more than the Kanto region. Among the participating artists, I only knew the name of Yasumasa Morimura, but I was able to enjoy the art works of the 80s with a rather fresh feeling.  

  2022年6月26日から7月1日にかけて、再び瀬戸内を訪れた。 訪れた場所は、神戸、小豆島、高松、直島、そして倉敷。 前に瀬戸内を訪れたのは2013年。およそ10年振りに訪れたことになる。 その時に撮った写真とともに旅を振り返っていこう。 旅の始まりは、品川から。 品川駅のエキュートにあるつばめグリルでハンバーグ弁当を買って、新幹線の車内へ。 まずは、品川から神戸に向かった。 From June 26th to July 1st, 2022, I visited Setouchi again. The places I visited were Kobe, Shodoshima, Takamatsu, Naoshima, and Kurashiki. The last time I visited Setouchi was in 2013. It's been about 10 years since I last visited. Let's look back on the trip with the photos I took at that time. Start your trip from Shinagawa. I bought a hamburger bento at Tsubame Grill in Ecute at Shinagawa Station and went to the Shinkansen.
